Skorvlot

Pilot’s cabin

On the small island Skorvlot there has been a pilot’s cabin looking almost like the cabin in the Gullkrona island in Nauvo. The plans for it originate are from 1888. This tiny cabin houses a fireplace and a small terrace. A small pilot’s cabin built on a high spot often also featured a pole beacon, for example on the white cabin on Sottunga, the yellow cabins in Degerby and Mariehamn, and the red and white cabin on Björkör. Sometimes pilot’s cabins also had a tower, for example on the island of Isokari. The Högsåra pilot’s cabin in Jungfrusund was red. It was built in 1862 and renovated in 1889.
